One of the countries which sent a representative to Zurich was Italy, which just so happened to wrap up a bilateral naval exercise in conjunction with the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln on August 9th.

"09Aug2024,
The Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group
and the Cavour Carrier Strike Group
concluded the first-ever bilateral Multi-Large Deck Event (MLDE)
held in the Indo-Pacific by the U.S. Navy and Italian Navy"
Raytheon (RTX) and Lockheed Martin (LMT) are both up over 10% since July 23rd in an otherwise flat market. U.S. Navy official website has not updated its information concerning percentage of total force deployed in over one month, which is unusual. They also took the unusual step of revealing publicly that U.S.S. Georgia had already been in the Mediterranean for some time when this information is ordinarily not disclosed. Of course, U.S.S. Georgia was converted to carry only large numbers of guided missiles and no longer carries the Trident II D-5 and its location is not as closely guarded as that of ballistic missile submarines. The message is clear: The U.S. intends to use a combined NATO force which includes the U.S.S. Georgia in order to carry out a decapitation strike against Iran in the near future. The posture is pre-emptive but we feel as though we can wait for Iran to at least move some tanks so that there's a justification. Many, many NATO countries are going to be involved in this and a massive amount of ordnance will be dumped upon Iran. RADAR, surface-to-air missile capability, mobile missile launchers and of course, nuclear sites will all be hit. According to publicly available information, HMS Queen Elizabeth II remains in Portsmouth and is thus not expected to take part, although it has completed scheduled maintenance and could be sent in if necessary.
EU members have formally called upon Iran not to attack and Iran has rejected this. The anti-war EU has changed much since the Bush years of France and Germany's opposition. Somehow leftists have become pro-war and it is these leftists who are now in control of most of the member states.
