This is odd. We had a comparatively weak X flare a couple of days ago and they're saying that the CME has arrived, producing auroras over Russia. One of the solar imaging systems captured a very, very bright light source emitting X-Rays moving past the Earth over a period of hours.
My best guess is that some sort of orbital weapons platform owned by the U.S. is in an orbit that is higher than the satellite taking the images of the Sun's corona. This weapons platform is temporarily blinding to the X-Ray detector due to the intensity, which is off-the-scale even compared to solar X-Ray emissions. Something is rotten in the State of Denmark.
Have there been any disruptions to communications equipment in Russia since this began? I have been watching this space weather site for many years and I have never seen this.
https://www.swpc.noaa.gov/You should somehow find a way to save that video as a .gif, it's not letting me save it as anything but individual .png images. You can see where they actually started purposefully taking more images in rapid succession rather than at the normal rate. Clearly, NOAA thought this was odd or they wouldn't have taken so many images of this thing.
